Select a suitable cooling fan based on the size of the computer case and the type of fan interface on the motherboard. Common fan sizes for computer cases include 80mm, 120mm, 140mm, etc. It is necessary to ensure that the fan size matches the reserved installation position in the case. The fan interfaces mainly come in two types: 3-pin and 4-pin. The 4-pin interface supports PWM speed regulation function, which can automatically adjust the fan speed according to the computer load, effectively controlling noise. (3) Prepare the tools

Prepare the necessary tools for installation, such as a cross-head screwdriver, silicone grease (if the CPU cooler fan needs to be replaced), etc. When choosing a screwdriver, it is necessary to select the appropriate model to avoid stripped screws due to incorrect dimensions. When choosing silicone grease, it is necessary to select products with reliable quality and good thermal conductivity to ensure the heat dissipation of the CPU.


Ii. Installation Steps for Cooling Fans

(1) Installation of the chassis fan

Determine the installation position of the case fan. Generally, the front, rear and top of a computer case all have reserved fan installation positions. The front fan is responsible for drawing in cold air, while the rear and top fans are used to expel hot air, forming a good air duct.

Aim the fan at the installation hole on the case and use a screwdriver to fix the fan on the case. Make sure the screws are tightened, but do not apply excessive force to prevent damage to the fan or the case.

Connect the power cord of the fan to the corresponding fan interface on the motherboard. If it is a 4-pin PWM fan, align the gap on the interface with the protrusion on the motherboard interface and gently insert it.

(2) Installation of CPU Cooler Fans (Taking Fan Replacement as an example)

Disassemble the original CPU cooler fan. First, disconnect the power cord of the fan. Then, loosen the fixing fasteners on the heat sink and carefully remove it. Be careful not to pull on other components on the motherboard.

Clean the old silicone grease on the surface of the CPU and the base of the heat sink. Gently wipe with a clean tissue or cotton swab to ensure the surface is clean and free of residue.

Apply a new layer of silicone grease evenly on the surface of the CPU. The amount of silicone grease should not be too much or too little. Excessive grease is prone to overflow and contaminate the motherboard. Too little will affect the heat dissipation effect. Generally, take an amount the size of a mung bean, and then gently press it flat with the heat sink base.

Install the new CPU cooler fan onto the CPU. Align the position of the fastener, gently lower the radiator, and fasten the fixing fastener. Make sure the radiator is installed firmly without any shaking.

Connect the power cord of the CPU cooler fan to the interface marked "CPU_FAN" on the motherboard and make sure the connection is stable.


Iii. Inspection and Commissioning after Installation

(1) Check the installation status

After installation is completed, carefully check whether all screws are tightened and whether the power cord of the fan is connected correctly and firmly. Make sure the fan is not shaking inside the case or on the heat sink to avoid increasing noise due to resonance during operation.

(2) Startup test

Connect the power supply and start the computer. Observe whether the computer can boot up normally. After entering the system, check the temperature of the CPU, graphics card and other hardware as well as the fan speed through the task manager or third-party software. If the fan does not rotate, has an abnormal speed or makes excessive noise, it should be turned off immediately for inspection to rule out installation issues.

(3) Optimize the fan Settings
