The bearing types of blower fans and their maintenance methods
2025-05-13 09:36:50

The commonly used bearing types for Blower fans include rolling bearings and sliding bearings. The following are their characteristics and maintenance methods:

Rolling bearing

Characteristics

Low frictional resistance: Rolling friction replaces sliding friction, which can effectively reduce energy loss and improve the efficiency of the blower and fan.

Flexible start-up: It can start under a relatively small external force, making it suitable for frequent start-stop working conditions.

High precision: It can ensure the rotational accuracy of the fan shaft, making the fan run more smoothly.

Easy installation: The structure is relatively simple, and it is easy to install and disassemble, facilitating maintenance and replacement.

Maintenance method

Regular lubrication: According to the working conditions and usage requirements of the bearings, select the appropriate lubricant. Generally, lithium-based grease is used. Replenish or replace the grease at the prescribed intervals to avoid accelerated wear of the bearings due to lack of oil. Generally, the grease should be inspected and replenished every 2,000 to 3,000 hours of operation.

Temperature monitoring: Install temperature sensors or use infrared thermometers to measure the temperature of the bearings regularly. Under normal circumstances, the operating temperature of rolling bearings should be between 60 and 80℃, and should not exceed 90℃ at most. If the temperature is too high, it may be due to poor lubrication, excessive load or bearing damage, etc. The machine should be stopped in time for inspection.

Vibration detection: Use a vibration tester to regularly detect the vibration condition of the bearings. The vibration value should be controlled within the specified range. If it exceeds the standard value, it may indicate that the bearing is worn, loose or has other faults, and further inspection and treatment are required.

Sealing inspection: Check the sealing device of the bearing to ensure good sealing and prevent dust, moisture and other impurities from entering the bearing interior, which may affect its normal operation. If the seal is found to be damaged, it should be replaced in time.

Sliding bearing

Characteristics

High load-bearing capacity: It can withstand significant radial and axial loads and is suitable for high-load blowers and fans.

Smooth operation: Due to the excellent buffering and vibration damping effect of the oil film between the bearing and the journal, the vibration and noise during operation are relatively small.

Long service life: Under good lubrication and maintenance conditions, the service life of sliding bearings is relatively long.

Compact structure: It can be designed as a relatively compact structure to save space.

Maintenance method

Oil quality management: Sliding bearings operate by relying on lubricating oil to form an oil film, so the quality of the oil directly affects the performance and lifespan of the bearings. Regularly test the viscosity, pH value, impurity content and other indicators of the lubricating oil to ensure that the oil quality meets the requirements. Generally, an oil quality analysis should be conducted every 1 to 3 months, and the lubricating oil should be replaced in a timely manner based on the analysis results. At the same time, it is necessary to keep the oil level within the normal range to avoid poor lubrication of the bearings due to an excessively low oil level.

Oil temperature control: Strictly control the temperature of the lubricating oil, which is generally maintained between 40 and 55 degrees Celsius. Excessively high oil temperature will reduce the viscosity of the oil, affecting the formation of the oil film and its load-bearing capacity. If the oil temperature is too low, the fluidity of the oil will deteriorate and the frictional resistance will increase. The oil temperature can be controlled by adjusting the cooling water volume or using an oil temperature regulating device.

Bearing bush inspection: Regularly open the bearing housing to check the wear condition of the bearing bush. Observe whether there are scratches, wear, ablation and other phenomena on the surface of the bearing bush, and measure whether the clearance between the bearing bush and the journal is within the specified range. If severe wear of the bearing bush is found, it should be repaired or replaced in time.

Cleaning and maintenance: Keep the interior of the bearing housing clean. Regularly clean the oil tank, oil filter and other components to prevent impurities, iron filings, etc. from entering the bearings. At the same time, clean the exterior of the bearing to prevent the accumulation of dust and oil stains, which may affect heat dissipation and the normal operation of the equipment.
